Numbers 36

Remember those girls who claimed their father’s inheritance? Well the men of the tribe didn’t like that arrangement and began complaining to Moses that if the girls got their father’s land and property, then when they married, men in some other tribe would come to own it and that would weaken their tribe. Moses was all, yeah, you’re right. I hadn’t thought about that. Well, then, let’s make it a rule that if a girl inherits from her father, then she has to marry a man from her own tribe. So then those girls had to marry their first cousins.

Well folks, that does it for Numbers. Tune in next time for the beginnings of Deuteronomy and Moses’s farewell speech.
