Then God told Moses to erect the sanctuary and move everything in on New Year’s Day, and then to finish it all off by sprinkling the holy oil on everything, including the newly minted priests decked out in their priestly threads. So Moses did. Then God’s cloud descended over the sanctuary and an overpowering radiation emanated from it for several days while God enjoyed Its new digs.
God must have liked the place so much that It decided It might travel with the Hebrews despite Its wrath, because after the the travel pattern was to set off whenever the cloud lifted and to camp whenever it came back.
